Next to Juewen Zhang's large-format and naturalistic charcoal drawings, he constantly produces small and very personal portraits of people immersed in their work, whom he observes at Atelier Goldstein. The main protagonist of this series is Franz von Saalfeld, Zhang's artist friend and studio neighbor, whom he repeatedly draws in profile, but also, like the other portrayed, from behind.

Juewen Zhang, born in 1995, is an artist at Atelier Goldstein. Atelier Goldstein of the Lebenshilfe Frankfurt am Main e.V. is an internationally successful production facility of the arts and offers uniquely giftet artists with disabilities the opportunity to work under professional conditions.
