Publisher Description

Rolypoly in the Slaughterhouse is an odyssey through past and present work, connected by patterns, which consist of the connected parts themselves. The whole zine can be understood as a coherent scroll, which is divided into an interlocking and looping echo of graphic moments, evoking an alien vortex.

Ramon Keimig has graduated in communication design, focusing on illustration and drawing, at FHWS Würzburg, Germany, and is currently studying art at HfG Offenbach.

His work is dedicated to the field of visual experimentation, self-sampling, and exploring the limits of the artist’s own formal language. Through the formal process, Ramon Keimig negotiates biographical positions with his environment and inexplicable sides of existence through constant working and testing on the image. The imagery is oscillating between figuration and abstraction, both digital and analog, to explore simulated subcultural codes and scratches on reality itself. His artistic practice is a cycle of observation, processing and remix. With his immediate approach, he is very concerned with the present and the meaning or quality of an image often only becomes clear in the motoric forward movement of the process.
