Publisher Description

ABYSSSSYBA: INVISIBILITY OF THE EYES is a micro archive of studio activities, texts, and performance documents from 2009 to 2016, comprising material-poetic events using the airborne dispersal of silver powder, towards — and its momentary suspension upon — a briefly existing and reflective membrane, + an index of corresponding works.

Rick Myers is a Manchester-born artist and publisher living in Massachusetts.

Solo exhibitions include: The Poetry Library at Southbank Centre & The Book Library at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London (2015); Printed Matter, New York (2011); White Columns, New York (2009).

Performances include: ‘A Bullet for Buñuel’, MoMA Library, NY (2013); ‘Mirror Feedback Section’ organized by David Senior, New York Art Book Fair, MoMA PS1, NY (2009). Myers was awarded the ‘Printed Matter Award for Artists’ in 2011.

As a publisher, Myers’ press, Edition Muta, is releasing titles which represent the entire and unpublished life’s work of Sacramento poet, Douglas Blazek – responsible, in his influential and prolific early career from the 1960’s until the 1980’s, for ‘making poetry dangerous’. Muta recently published an LP of a previously undiscovered audio cassette recording of Wallace Berman, in conversation with collaborators, family and friends, at his home in Topanga Canyon, 1968.
