Publisher Description
What would you do with a considerable inheritance? For one woman with a voracious appetite for pleasure, it’s all about satisfying her diverse tastes—in the kitchen and in the bedroom—in this scintillating erotic novel by Antoinette.
When London Shelby’s beloved and unconventional grandmother passes away, leaving her millions of dollars and a philosophy of “pleasure without pressure,” the twenty-six-year-old paralegal decides to live in a lavish and sensuous manner that honors the sybaritic spirit of the woman she looked up to.
Yet London is not without her demons, and her lifestyle opens her up to emotional upheaval when she falls for a married man. London’s craving for Deacon Wayne is overwhelming, and when he moves abroad, her world begins to fracture.
Driven to sate the hunger that consumes her, London embarks on a string of clandestine affairs, fully giving in to the dark side of herself. But there are always consequences when one lives for the moment, and there’s no guarantee that London will be able to emerge unscathed.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Sophisticated readers will quickly tire of the sophomoric writing in this mindless, episodic erotic novel. Wealthy paralegal London Shelby is reeling from the shock of her boyfriend, Deacon, leaving her to marry someone else. She adopts the motto "pleasure without pressure," enjoying creative and spontaneous sex with anyone who catches her eye (golf pro, high school ex, college-age beachgoer, and others). Lacking any true friends or real interests, Shelby lounges in the Tarrytown, N.Y., mansion left to her by her grandmother and goes from one affair to the next in pursuit of someone who can take her mind off Deacon. Yet whenever he reappears, she eagerly welcomes him back. Readers may wonder how anyone can get through life without trusted confidants Shelby's "best friend" seduces Deacon away from her after their threesome and with so little sense of her own value as a human being. Several passages border on the nonconsensual, which will titillate some readers but distress others. There's pleasure aplenty, but without emotional connection, it feels empty.
