On 8 November 2004, the largest battle of the War on Terror began, with the US Army's assault on Fallujah and its network of tens of thousands of insurgents hiding in fortified bunkers, on rooftops, and inside booby-trapped houses. Uncompromising depictions of battle at its finest (or worst depending on your point of view). The life of a frontline soldier is unrelentingly fatiguing, the monotony punctuated with periods of exhilaration, humor, fear and savagery. Sgt Bellavia experienced the kind of combat few soldiers since the battle of Hue have since, or will ever, experience and he brought the fight for Falluja home in all it’s filthy chaotic glory.
