Customer Reviews
Santa Montefiore
I really enjoyed this beautifully written book. It included the vast divide between the aristocracy and the servants who had to serve their every whim. All of this set against the Irish troubles at that time and the consequences for some of the characters involved. I appreciate the unexpected twist in the final pages, but was surprised at the sudden ending as I really did think there would still be another chapter....
Songs of Love and War
If I were able to award no stars I would. The characters were irritating and I found the writing style forced and overblown. The habit of overloading every sentence with un-necessary adjectives ruined the flow of the writing. I do not like abandoning books and I forced myself to keep reading but, ultimately, I had to give up on it.
