Publisher Description
The second novel in nationally bestselling author K.A. Tucker’s breathtaking romantic suspense series, about an undercover detective who is dangerously drawn to her target.
Luke Boone doesn't know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it—the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he's finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set—one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it's not exactly legal, Luke's never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.
Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game—at only twenty-six years old, she's one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington, DC, major crime unit, and she's just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the West coast's most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she'll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year-old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle's footsteps.
As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she'll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she'll even want to.

Amazing!
To say I was excited to read becoming rain would be an understatement. Ever since we met the- seemingly arrogant, boy on the wrong side of the law Luke Boone, in Burying Water I've been desperate for his story. We were given insights in the previous book that Luke had a soft side, he wasn't as bad as his lifestyle led us to believe. Remember those moments in Burying water that showed he had a heart? Well multiply them by ten because Luke Boone is seriously swoon worthy in this book. He is a misguided soul who just needs to be loved and steered towards the right track, can he get there before the police investigation ties him to crimes that will put him in prison for years? His journey is made impossible when the very woman he is falling for is the same woman attempting to bring his demise.
I love Tucker's writing and I make no secret of this, everything I've read from her has a depth that drags me in and keeps me there until the last page, Becoming Rain is no different. The writing is nothing short of superb and the emotions are conveyed brilliantly, the fact we get alternate POV's throughout means you don't feel as if there's any stone left unturned. The synopsis makes it clear what is going to happen between Luke and Clara but what I wasn't prepared for was the amount of emotion I'd feel watching Luke fall for Clara whilst knowing all along what she was going to do to him, I felt traitorous and my heart was in my mouth throughout.
I enjoyed the crime side as much as I enjoyed the romance and the way KA weaves the two together so seamlessly amazes me. Each book I read from her keeps me hooked from beginning to end. They don't always pan out the way you expect, thinking I knew exactly what would happen unexpectedly led to me crying on a busy train to work, yeah that was pretty embarrassing. I had no idea my interest in Luke and Clara's wellbeing was so intense. It's safe to say from that moment and many others (several of which I wanted to throw my Kindle against a wall) that this book was a roller coaster of emotions.
For me, Tucker is not just a writer, she's a storyteller and an epic one at that!
