Publisher Description

Jake Humphrey had one of the best jobs in the world: flying around the world presenting Formula 1 to 6 million people is not a bad occupation. And there is plenty that the viewer doesn't get to see, quite a lot of it rather surprising too. Travelling around the globe in the F1 bubble, Jake brings the reader close to the action. With his unique access to the key characters in the sport, he reveals a side of figures such as Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher and Bernie Ecclestone not seen before.

From techie heaven driving the Red Bull simulator to witnessing moments of great sporting triumph, Jake brings you behind the scenes in the paddock to behold the changing face of F1 and his life as a TV presenter permanently walking the tightrope of public humiliation.

The Inside Track

I was one of Jake's supporters from the start...however I did understand how people could find him irritating and somewhat smug!! unfortunately the book will not change people's opinions of him in this respect. However if I was lucky enough to travel the world on the F1 wagon I would want everyone to know about it too!

What I like about the book are the few stories about what himself, DC an EJ got up to on race weekends - more of this and the book would have been soooo much better!

Unfortunately the book is mainly made up of facts and opinions about F1 that many fans will have more in depth knowledge about than Jake shares. Less of this and more of his own stories would have made this a far more noteworthy read.

Despite my criticisms I truly believe what Jake has done for F1 in recent years is fantastic! He deserves credit for pulling F1 coverage up to the standard we should expect from a billion pound industry. He opened up the sport to a new generation of F1 fans and this is where am guessing this book should be targeted-those who wish to gain a very brief history of the sport with some behind the scenes anecdotes thrown in.

Excellent Read

What an absolute great read! The time, detail and effort gone into this book actually made me feel like I was at the f1 event wherever it was appropriate. A must read for anyone who is so passionate about F1!

Recently got into F1 over the last couple of years and this book is great to read as a novice to the sport. Gives a great insight into everything to do with F1 and thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
