PALE HOUSE HAS AWOKEN

When Dair Lewis receives a call telling him of his estranged mother’s death, he must travel back to his childhood home in the far north of Scotland, the sprawling and shadowy Pale House.

Drawn into a mystery regarding the circumstances of her passing, Lewis begins to suspect that something is terribly wrong with the house. A secret from the years after he left, and traumatic experiences he’d repressed from earlier in his life, made his former home a place of dread for him — and now the past has come alive within its walls.

As Lewis digs deeper, the house calls out to a damaged and twisted figure bent on murder, drawing a monster into its shifting, labyrinthine expanse. Trapped in a dark and living museum of his own worst memories, Lewis must fight to stay alive long enough to discover the truth about the house at the end of Middleshade Road...

A thrilling journey

I’ve long enjoyed Matt’s work, including his many short stories. It was a lot of fun to read one of those fully played out. This story had a few twists that I didn’t see coming which kept me turning through pages. Excellent work!

A gripping tale that begged me to finish

It’s rare that a book captures my imagination so fully that I finish it within a couple of days. Typically, my only spare time to read is in the mornings before my day becomes busy. Middleshade Road found its way into my hands during every break from work until I ran out of pages.

Matt has painted vivid characters so well onto this canvas of a plot, I can’t wait for more of his work in this genre to be published. If you’re a fan of King and Koontz, you’ll love this book.

Redefined the word “chilling”

The author has a keen way of insinuating his story into your subconscious — or perhaps pulling something already in that subterranean terrain into the harrowing light of an already gloomy day. I always enjoy Matt’s stories, and this one delivered me to another, unbeknownst, level of psychic terror. If that sort of thing is your cup of tea, then by all means, sip away on Middleshade Road!
