Publisher Description

A timeless, “triumphant” (Entertainment Weekly) story of healing and recovery from the victim of a crime that shocked the nation: the Central Park Jogger.

Shortly after 9:00 p.m. on April 19, 1989, a young woman jogs alone near 102nd Street in New York City's Central Park. She is attacked, raped, savagely beaten, and left for dead. Hours later she arrives at the emergency room—comatose—she has lost so much blood that her doctors believe it’s a miracle she's still alive. Meet Trisha Meili, the Central Park Jogger.

I Am the Central Park Jogger recounts the mesmerizing, inspiring, often wrenching story of human strength and transcendent recovery. Called “Hero of the Month” by Glamour magazine, Meili tells us who she was before the attack—a young Wall Street professional with a promising future—and who she has become: a woman who learned how to read, write, walk, talk, and love again...and turn horrifying violence and certain death into extraordinary healing and victorious life. With “moments of unexpected grace and insights into life’s challenges….Meili’s story—the story the public never knew—is unforgettable” (The Buffalo News).

Great biography

What a fantastic, deeply moving tale of one of the most publicized crimes of the last decade.

Disappointing

Don’t read this book. It’s really nothing to gain from reading.

The audacity of this woman

This woman has never acknowledged the fact that the Children convicted and jailed were innocent and beaten and harassed into making false statements. Also the fact that none of their DNA matched the crime scene. Instead she writes a book capitalizing off of something that really was a tragedy. In addition she claims that the settlement the boys received for their false accusation was “not a good idea”. Money can’t replace the years and trauma taken off their lives but it’s the least they could get after receiving No Apology from her nor anyone else! For example...Korey Wise, who was 16 at the time, was placed in Adult prisons and beaten and raped Repeatedly. For years. And unfortunately he doesn’t have the blessing of “memory loss”. It’s insane to me that she only decided to write this book After those boys were proven innocent. Obviously she knows deep down that they were wrongfully convicted. It took the Real rapist Matias Reyes to come forward in 2002 for them to be exonerated. Imagine that, a Rapist had more mercy than her. And despite his DNA being matched with the crime scene, she to this day claims that she believes there were at least two people and refuses to accept the innocence of the Central Park Five. Disappointing! Don’t buy this book and contribute to the suffering of others.
