Publisher Description

In the twenty-first century: Years before the formal first contact that would be recorded in Earth's history, a Vulcan space vessel crash-lands in the South Pacific, forcing humanity to decide whether to offer the hand of friendship, or the fist of war. Complicating matters is a second visitation: a group of people from two hundred years in the future, who serve on a starship called Enterprise....
In the twenty-third century: A new novel called Strangers from the Sky reveals the truth about this heretofore unknown first contact. Reading the novel leads to nightmares that torment Admiral James T. Kirk -- dreams of his dead comrades, Gary Mitchell, Lee Kelso, and Elizabeth Dehner, from his earliest days aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise™; visions of a forgotten past in which he somehow changed the course of history and destroyed the Federation before it began.

My Favorite book!!!

I read a lot, including the classics, and this is still my favorite book. I'm a HUGE Star Wars & Star Trek fan and have read a lot of books from both universes, and while I like a lot of them, this story is hands down my favorite. Why? Because it's essentially the story of Kirk & Spock. I've always loved their friendship and this author really explores and narrates it well. And a good story well told deserves to be loved, no matter what genre it's from. If you love Star Trek, then you'll love this book.

A New Favorite

This book came late onto my radar, but has since become a favorite out of the many Trek novels I have read. It is from the original series era, and does a fine job of filling in some of the gaps and that chronology. I appreciate it for its serious take at the first contact plot, which I always adore, and it's willingness to not leave it's readers entirely happy at the end. As Star Trek novels go, it is one of the best.
