Publisher Description
Failure of the Hive to contain the Umbrella Corporation's most deadly viral creation has led to an outbreak of apocalyptic proportions. Now the streets of Raccoon City swarm with the living dead, compelling Umbrella to deploy another of its bioweapons, a hulking prototype soldier code-named NEMESIS that kills anything in its path.
Jill Valentine of the RCPD and several others are determined to get out of Raccoon alive, but only if they can escape the city's hordes of undead, Umbrella's unleashed creatures, and the relentless pursuit of Nemesis itself. Their one chance is with one of the only survivors of the Hive -- a young woman named Alice, who learns a terrifying secret behind her connection to Umbrella.

Racist slurs from a white author
I stopped reading as I saw it. Keith DeCandido is a white man. Since when did white authors get a free pass at using that word (you know which one)? Hard r and all, and at least twice. Insidious in its placement; I certainly wasn’t expecting to see that word in this book and it shocked me to my core. It wasn’t “spoken” by a Black character either, it was instead used as a description. Said Black character “wanted to be the top <slur> in the neighborhood.” Really??? That slur was repeated again in the same chapter, but not spoken by a character.
The film itself already had a problem with its racist portrayal of LJ, but this is beyond racist stereotypes (those were conveniently included in the book too).
Disappointing and unacceptable. I really liked the first book, but I cannot overlook this and it completely ruined this series for me.
