Publisher Description
World-renowned bestselling author Carlos Castaneda's selection of his writings on the shamans of ancient Mexico.
Originally drawn to Yaqui Indian spiritual leader don Juan Matus for his knowledge of mind-altering plants, bestselling author Carlos Castaneda soon immersed himself in the sorcerer’s magical world entirely. Ten years after his first encounter with the shaman, Castaneda examines his field notes and comes to understand what don Juan knew all along—that these plants are merely a means to understanding the alternative realities that one cannot fully embrace on one’s own. In Journey to Ixtlan, Carlos Castaneda introduces readers to this new approach for the first time and explores, as he comes to experience it himself, his own final voyage into the teachings of don Juan, sharing with us what it is like to truly “stop the world” and perceive reality on his own terms.
Customer Reviews
Good end to a very entertaining saga.
This book is great if you have read all the Castaneda books. It recapitulates ;-) all his teachings in a concise and streamed fashion. Its like a dummy's guide to Castaneda.it won't however make terrible sense without the reading of the series. The book doesn't come without flaws. It feels put together very quickly and it is very short. It also just seems to end abruptly. Being a fan it was still a great read.
Great glimpse into a great author.
Why the rest of his books aren't available to us is sad. Apple please bring us the rest of C.C.'s books.
The Wheel of Time
Truly inspiring read. I've read all of Carlos Castaneda's books, some two or three times and I'm always encouraged to seek and understand the truths of our existence far greater than any other source. He did an absolutely incredible job of condensing all of his books into one and elucidating the core of his understanding and the experiences he has been through.
