Fans of MWA Grand Master Clark will find plenty of intrigue and excitement in this contemporary thriller, which opens with the fatal shooting of Dr. Greg Moran in a Manhattan playground by a shadowy figure known only as "Blue Eyes" the latter's moniker originating with the chilling shouts of the victim's three-year-old son, Timmy: "Blue Eyes shot my daddy Blue Eyes shot my daddy!" Five years after this tragedy, the doctor's high-powered TV producer widow, Laurie, who's still haunted not only by her husband's death but also by his killer's parting promise to come back to murder her and Timmy, hatches an idea for a new TV series to reenact unsolved criminal cases. "It was a risky venture with great potential for success and also for chaos," Laurie admits to herself, and so if proves when she selects the 20-year-old murder of Betsy Powell, the wife of eccentric billionaire Robert Powell, for the pilot episode. Four estranged best friends one of them Betsy's own daughter are reunited at the Powell estate in Westchester County, N.Y., to recall the harrowing evening of the murder. Clark keeps readers guessing and in suspense, with any one of the old companions potentially culpable and Blue Eyes making a number of startling reappearances.

whodunit soap opera
This is a whodunit soap opera-ish mystery. It did a great job of making everyone appear guilty at times and not guilty at others. Also all of the potential suspects are from the same circle so there’s lots of drama between them. They have history with each other and most of it isn’t good. Many of them hate one another actually, and almost everyone hated the person who was killed.
Boring
This started off well and then rapidly deteriorated into a truly terrible book. With something like 11 POVs absolutely none of he characters had any depth, and the constant referral to Blue Eyes was beyond irritating. The 4 graduates reunite after 20 years and there is not a single word written about that moment. Other than one of them faints. Ridiculous. It became so tedious and boring I didn’t even care who the murderer was and gave up reading.

I could hardly force myself to put this book down to eat, sleep or work. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!
