582 AD. The country that would come to be known as Scotland was divided. The Gaels had claimed the west for generations, the Picts held the east while Britons and Angles shared the south. Kings plotted to gain territory and Christian priests attempted to convert Pagan Kings. Bridie the Brave, the Christian daughter of a Gaelic Chieftain kidnaps Kel, the son of a Pictish King.  In a time of feuds and turmoil, Bridie is out to prove she doesn’t need a husband for the sake of an alliance to hold her family’s position. When a woman’s worth is measured by the husband she is given to, Bridie forges her own way.
