Saints Cyril and Methodius

THE “APOSTLES OF THE SLAVS” by Rev. Cyril Potocek is a valuable contribution to the history of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Eastern Europe. While it primarily concerns itself with the lives of SS. Cyril and Methodius, the book contains a wealth of information on contemporary history of Eastern Europe and the Slavs of the ninth century. I have nowhere read a clearer explanation of the origin and use of the Old Slavonic language with its Cyrillic and Glagolitic alphabets in the liturgy of the Catholic Church.

I know that Father Potocek’s book will enable many a student of history who has been easily confused heretofore, to understand and to speak intelligently about the distinct and separate branches of the Slavic race without confusion.
