Beschreibung des Verlags

Annie Mae's Boys and Me provides a backstory for three brothers, all musicians, and their sister who provides this account of their relationships with their mother and each other.
The brothers -Al Perkins ( a Detroit based Disc Jockey and record producer); James "Son" Thomas (Delta Blues Musician and sculptor) ;Robert "Mickey" Boss, a popular saxophone side man who played with Lonnie Brooks,Billy Boy Arnold and Sun Ra in Chicago- and the author,Velma "Vee" Allen all had two things in common: their love of music and a mother named Annie Mae.
Their stories range from tragic to downright hilarious accounts of life in Mississippi, mainly the Delta ,during the 40's and beyond. They were poor, and their only stability was provided by their grandmother in the case of "Son" and their mother who felt that an education was the only way out of poverty. They chose music and art and made the sacrifices necessary to pursue their passion. The author replaced her passion for music with a quest for education for most of her life, but now, in her retirement years, is trying to pursue that passion through singing, songwriting and writing. She is the only survivor and reflects upon her life of service to her family and her unrequited desire to pursue her music dreams.
