Centurion:'the Forever Soldier‪'‬

I wake with a start, my hand automatically going for the hand-pulsar under my pillow. Sweating, my heart pounding, I'm disoriented, lost in time and space, with most of my brain still deep within the bloody dream! I quickly scan the early morning shadows for an enemy --- but will it be a Middle-Eastern jihadist with an automatic weapon, a painted barbarian with a bronze sword or some fur clad savage with a flint tipped spear?!
Ever since the accident I never know what the hell I'll find when I wake up --- except that some angry bastard will soon be trying to kill me!
I shake my head to clear the memories, but they cling to me like cobwebs. Strange recollections; distorted, otherworldly! My life, my other lives --- all mixed together! Different places, different times --- different bloody mes!
