Bedford Girls’ School is located in Bedfordshire, 60 miles north of London. We were created from the merger of two traditional girls’ schools in 2011. BGS is an independent day school for girls aged 7-18 years told, operated by the Harpur Trust. 


In 2013, we conducted at 1:1 trial of iPad devices with Year 8 students and worked with the University of Hull to measure the success in learning. 


All students and teachers use an iPad on a 1:1 basis across the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form, with over 1,000 devices on campus. 


In 2016 we became an Apple Distinguished School. This is the next chapter in our continuous innovation story.


Many of our teachers embed iTunes U in their practice, and we have a Digital Content Developer on staff who helps us curate and publish some very high-quality digital textbooks using iBooks Author. 


Teachers regularly use apps like Explain Everything, iMovie, Socrative and Google Drive.
