カール・ツェルニーは、オーストリアのピアノ教師、ピアニスト、作曲家。父方の祖先はボヘミア出身の西スラヴ人で、苗字の綴りは元はチェコ語: Černyであった。ドイツ語でも発音はチェルニーだが、日本ではツェルニーと発音・表記される事が多い。
Carl Czerny was born in 21 February 1791, he was an Austrian composer, teacher, and a pianist whose musical production amounted to over a thousand works. His books of studies for the piano are still widely used in piano teaching.
