Harrow the Boys

In a not too distant future, much of Ireland’s midwest has been flooded by rising sea water. Life goes on, people adapt, live their lives, survive. Ram is a wader from the hillside settlement of Christ King, a small town clung to the throat of Slievenamuck, known for its mouthy locals and its spectacular views of the flooded Glen of Aherow. Ram and his friends spend their days scavenging and selling the scrap they find amongst the flooded world. It’s a living, but business is not booming.

After a stroke of good fortune, Ram and his friends secure a job laying fibre for a corporate contractor, but decide to take one last wade down into the glen. When a routine trek through flooded farmland uncovers a hidden and relatively untouched estate, the boys investigate. What appears on the surface to be an opportunity for a lucrative payday, takes a dark turn when a group of armed men close in and the secrets of the estate are slowly revealed.

Harrow the Boys is a heart pounding thriller set in the vividly realised and textured world of a flooded Ireland. It is a searing vision into the future that will remain with you long after you’ve turned the last page.
