Introduction In 1990, I was invited by Simon du Plock to write an article for the first issue of the Journal of the Society for Existential Analysis. The moment was auspicious: For the Journal, because it was the first issue; for me, because I had by then more or less worked out the first volume of a four volume phenomenological philosophy on which I have spent most of my thinking life. 2007 was the year in which a version of Being and Becoming was published, and so I am now in a position to show what can be done with the existential principles set out in 1990.
