Charles Barnard was a famous American castaway. In 1812 he rescued the survivors of a British shipwreck in the Falkland Islands, and informed them Great Britain was at war with the United States. While he and a small party were ashore gathering supplies, the party he rescued made off with his ship. This is Barnard's inspiring account of courage amid treachery and privation.
