Race the Night

DJ Jesseray, a young Saint Paul homicide detective, has it all: a cool job, a great house, and a really hot fiancé. One night, she confronts a huge tiger to save a child, and, with a single deep bite, her life is completely changed. She wakes to find herself labeled not only a shapeshifter but also a threat to national security. Disbelieving, she watches her FBI fiancé, Ryan, stand by while his supervisor handcuffs her to the bed to await federal incarceration. Determined to get some answers, DJ engineers a getaway.

With the help of her best friend’s psychic talents, she traces Ryan and his boss to an airport parking ramp. There, she stands transfixed as a vampire attacks and drags Ryan away, triggering her first transformation in a flash of white light.

For DJ, the next few days are a frantic race to find Ryan, evade federal incarceration, cope with a strange new supernatural world, learn what it means to be a special brand of shapeshifter, and wrestle with power brokers at the local, state and national level. Once the authorities fully comprehend the body count vampires leave behind, the spotlight leaves Ryan. But DJ dares not waver; in just two more days, on the night of the full moon, Ryan becomes a vampire – lost to her forever.
