New to the small, backwoods town, Spencer is invited by a group of young teens to play a harmless game of hide and seek in the woods. It's the kind of night he was never able to see in the city where he's from, and with a new crush by his side he's confident enough to take his friends up on their offer, even after Chad tells him the tale of the Dwellers:

"Gross." Spencer's face scrunched into a disapproving scowl.
"Right?" said Chad. "Nobody ever associated with them and they were known for eating peoples' cats and dogs and crap like that. Then, once the quarry was built and everyone started moving into town for the economy and stuff, a couple of kids went missing. Pretty soon, they started searching for them and found the family's house – like a tiny, torn up cottage or something. When more people disappeared the townspeople raided the house. They found a few dead bodies inside so they burned it down with the family still inside. I guess they were cannibals or devil worshipers or something. Some say they escaped and others say it's their ghosts that still haunt the woods sometimes...looking for a fresh meal. It supposedly all happened around here somewhere."

When many of his new pals go missing, Spencer is forced to see for himself whether the dark hills hold monsters or tricks. After venturing through a barrier of thorns, Spencer comes across an abandoned cottage with a candle burning in the attic window.

Is it a prank? Is he hallucinating?

The more important question is: will he find his friends and make it out of this secluded forest alive?
