Stacey is having a bad enough day that when two mysterious sorcerers ask her to do an equally mysterious task for them, she says yes. They promise her that it won't cost her soul, her shadow, her sanity, or anything else she might want especially to keep—and that the risk of death or grievous bodily harm is under ten percent.

She's a veteran of customer service, even if magic is hardly her thing. Of course she knows there'll be more to it than that. But hey, it's not like she's not curious. Or had anything else to do after losing both her other jobs before eight o'clock. And the money is suspiciously nice.

All she needs to do is open a door. Can't be anything too weird on the other side, right?
