What is the purpose of the economy? Why do we need managers at all? Are managers really that important? What makes a good manager? What does management really mean?

These and other questions are looked at and answered in a quite different way in this first volume of a series titled "Wealth & Wellbeing".

The author argues that every economic activity is directed towards increasing the wellbeing of people and the humanity in its entirety. Looking at it from this angle, the first book argues that the free economy is the most important endeavor in human history and management is, being the core of it, the most important task in the world.

Management, as outlined here, is the most important but also most dangerous task as it has at its disposal the largest leverage (people, financial capital and knowledge) to be used for the good of the people around the world - or used as a means to destroy parts, if not all of the society.

This is a quite refreshing view, written in a conversational style, with a lot of insight and experience by an author who has worked as manager for decades in various companies; companies with five employees, but also in large corporations with over 100,000 employees.

The author shares many experiences - bad and good ones - and this is what makes the book quite a refreshing and interesting read. His experiences and learnings are outlined in detail and, though based on many management theories, give a practical guidance on how to manage effectively for the wealth & wellbeing of peoples around the world.
