Layne Beachley, one of the world's most successful female surfers, and Tess Brouwer, then Virgin Australia's Head of Partnerships, met while both at the top of their game. But when an accident put Tess in need of two spinal operations, with months in hospital and no guarantees of walking again, it was Layne who offered much-needed hope.
