Castle Araluen is well protected against attackers – but what if the enemy is already inside?
King Duncan and Princess Cassandra are trapped high in the south tower of Castle Araluen.
In the north, Sir Horace and Ranger Commandant Gilan are besieged in an old hill fort, as they wait for the Red Fox Clan's next attack.
Ranger's apprentice Maddie must find the Heron brotherband and convince them to join her, so she can give her father the help he needs to break out from the hill fort and ride to confront the traitor.
Will they reach Castle Araluen in time? And when the battles have been fought and the dust has settled, who will rule the Kingdom of Araluen?

Royal ranger Book 3
This book was good . But I miss the old narrator he made the characters come to life in the books he narrated .Unfortunately this narrator is not quiet the same and this being an audio book, who you pick for the voice is to me very important.
Reader’s interpretation of characters.
Great book, as is the entire series. However the reader’s interpretation of the characters in regards to the accents is quite annoying, along with his pragmatic pauses in places where he doesn’t need to pause. This disrupts the rhythm and flow of the sentences.
In the case of the accents, the characters of Gillan and Horace are two that stand out the most. Gillan is the son of one of the foremost nights in the kingdom, and coming from a well established family. Most definitely not the type to speak as if he grew up on a farm.
In a similar vain, Horace, like Will, was an orphan and had to work his way up from the very bottom. As well as striking lucky with the Princess. To have him all of a sudden speak as if he is of noble blood would be a bit of an insult to the characters.
