Publisher Description
Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Before today’s multivolume science fiction epics, there was Dune. More than 50 years on, it’s still a key source of in-jokes for the geek-cool crowd, up there with Tolkien and Star Wars. The story centers on the battle for dominance over the desert planet Arrakis, the only place in the universe where melange, a powerfully addictive spice that aids abilities like precognition and poison tolerance, can grow. Dune’s familial, military, and political intrigue is instantly thrilling; the audiobook’s movielike elements, including multiple performers and scene-setting sound effects, make it a perfect way to discover Arrakis for the first time or take a journey back.

Best way to experience this epic
Not an expert but, for me, this is the definitive version. A 21 hour thrill-ride.
Incredible Original
This book that inspired Star Wars surpasses the movie classic by far. Dune is a story about not just sci fi, but as to how we live in a sci fi world, which Star Wars doesn’t do that well. This book is my favourite, and the new movie is incredible. This book shows how new cultures evolve which Foundation (show) explored a bit.
All in all
Get this book, it is incredible
Dune BOOK and AUDIO review
BOOK REVIEW - stunning! This isn’t a quick summer read, this is a all encompassing dive into a an alien world where you INVEST your mind and focus into observing the unravelling of well written and well structured stories within stories to experience something from the beyond!
This is real literature. World building and character development is so thought provoking and grabbing. This story IS a political opera however it’s so well balanced as it blends and melds into a mind bending, fantastical adventure. I see why this is a classic!
AUDIO REVIEW - the reader is great but sometimes they use actors voices, then randomly in chapters the reader creates his own voice for the character. So at times you need to really listen to not lose your place in the story. HOWEVER that is not picking it’s still pretty awesome :))
