Customer Reviews
You get what you pay for.
“You get what you pay for” is a saying and in fact a statement that will prove itself true time and time again. When I saw this audiobook, at $5.99 AUD, I knew there had to be a reason, seeing as other books along the same field, by other authors were 4-6 times more expensive. I looked at the size of the audiobook and that made me believe that might be the reason, being it’s a rather short read/listen.
And then you press play. Having now been sufficiently spoilt by excellent audiobooks, referring to the audio quality in particular, I am now developing an outright intolerance for substandard quality audiobooks. To be perfectly honest, this audiobook sounds like it was recorded in the cupboard underneath the bathroom sink. I’m not saying that to simply be patronising. That’s the most accurate description I could give. I’m this day and age, teenage YouTube creators have access to decent recording equipment AND more importantly understand the value of using good equipment.
Next is the narrator himself, who is the author of the material being read. To say the he mumbles, is probably an oversell. Perhaps ask someone who has a clear and concise voice to read these books. People are paying money for these audiobooks and seeing as they are essentially not fit for listening, it’s basically a ripoff.
Finally, the material itself. I’m no expert on the matter. I bought this audiobook to learn about forensic psychology. But even to my mind, this material sounds like an essay a 12 year old wrote for a school magazine. But I could be wrong. Perhaps forensic psychology really is a very basic science. I say this sarcastically.
Overall this was a very disappointing experience.
