Publisher Description
I wish I were brave enough to give into what his eyes promise, to just grab ahold of it and forget everything else. But life is never that easy, this I know. I'd learned it the hard way.
Moving halfway across the country to escape my past, I hadn't expected to run smack dab into someone like him. I'd been prepared to hide away in the little town, away from everyone and everything I knew to lick my wounds and hopefully some day make a fresh start. But I knew that wasn't going to be possible with my pushy new boss who seems to see way too much when he looks at me. Even the things I try hardest to hide. I knew there was more to my mousy new secretary but couldn't quite put my finger on what that more might be. Until I saw the real her, the woman she kept hidden beneath the ugly suits and old maid bun. Now I've made it my mission to fix whatever went wrong in her life, since I've decided to claim her.

Narration was a train wreck
Where’s the editor?
That’s all I could think of throughout this book. I love to listen while I read. That was chaotic for this book. There were huge chapters and partial chapters missing. The narration was completed by three seperate artists. All were fine-ish. The lead narrator for Cole couldn’t really do other voices to sound realistic and definitively couldn’t keep them consistent. His female voices were often super high and annoyingly squeaky. Even the other men became weird and confusing to listen to.
I don’t believe it was ever edited.
There are noises made by the female artist (this is normal) to indicate rereads that needed to have parts of sentences or parts edited out. That didn’t happen. Several of the artists read the same lines multiple times and all reads were left intact.
Very average but it was only an old Twilight Fanfiction. Just a bit of smutty fun. Though the book itself has been edited, the narration must have happened early on and some Twific references, such as Port Angeles and calling the female lead by Bella’s nickname, survive.
Not the worst book, not the best. The narration though was mostly a flop. Pity.
