Maverick thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb had an illustrious career on Wall Street before turning his focus to his black swan theory. Not all swans are white, and not all events-no matter what the experts think-are predictable. Taleb shows that black swans, like 9/11, cannot be foreseen and have an immeasurable impact on the world. "[Taleb] administers a severe thrashing to MBA- and Nobel Prize-credentialed experts who make their living from economic forecasting."-Booklist
Perfect if you want to sleep
Bit of background of how I came to see this book and consequently purchased it. It all started with an interview I found really intriguing with Jeff Bezos, Jeff mentioned it was one of the books he was reading and I naturally thought if it was good for the richest man in the world surely will be good for me. Anyway 24% into the audio book I had to hit the stop button as the fears I was falling into a deep coma was becoming a reality.
The author really tries to be over intellectual and just blabs verbal diarrhoea. I suggest reading anything from Jordan B Peterson if you’re that way inclined.
PS I’ve recovered from my coma
