Publisher Description
The American Prophetic Movement is in the midst of a crisis. The impact is devastating on churches, organizations, Christian mission, and the nation. Rev. CJ Conner believes reclaiming the office of Prophet and returning to the true nature of biblical prophecy is essential for the future and health of the American Church. Conner examines the proliferation of modern day prophets and compares them to the standard bearers of the Bible in a bid to show why reform of the prophetic movement has never been more urgent.
The Heart of the Prophet is a thoughtful look at the American Prophetic movement, the characteristics of prophets, the nature of prophecy throughout history, and the indispensable need for modern prophets and prophesy.
CJ Conner is a pastor, missionary, and widowed father of 4. He is the author of Jesus and the Culture Wars: Reclaiming the Lord's Prayer and Christian Mission in Cambodia. Conner earned a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Mission, has planted schools and churches in the mission field, and served congregations in the United States. In 2000 he joined the movement to reform the radical Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. His efforts contributed to a denominational split and the development of what became the fastest growing Charismatic Lutheran denomination in the nation. Conner has a rehabilitation ministry for young men, a small business incubator, and rehabs and develops historic properties.
He lives with his 4 children and 2 dogs in Dodge City, KS
