It never really went anywhere
Found this book incredibly frustrating - felt like it repeated itself - conveying the same thing over and over. The relationships never really developed - with others the characters were predicable. I loved "The Generals Daughter" so was looking forward to this one. The character is such an old dinosaur- sexist
& crude - not funny actually - I checked a couple of times to check I'd actually bought the right book by the same author as it was so bad. Earlier books with this character were witty, with more story. Finally at 60-65% through, the constant drivelling diatribe shifts to actual storytelling. But it never really got any pace or momentum.
There are better books by this author. This one is appalling.
