The Rebel's Queen The Rebel's Queen

Publisher Description

A rising king. A falling queen. An unimaginable love.

Queen Cora is married to a monster. Three years she has played wife, and all she has to show for it is a marked face, an empty womb, and a bitter taste in her mouth best washed away with wine. It is a good thing she is made of something solid, because marriage is a life sentence. Or is it? The rebel prince is coming for the crown. Powers will shift, and loyalties will be tested. As Cora’s future unravels, she must fight to keep hold of her position, her sanity—and most definitely her heart.

Brom is leader of the Nydoen people, a mountain rebel—and next in line to rule. His brother is self-destructing, and the time has come to replace him. He has the love of a kingdom and a clear path to the throne, but not everyone wants him to succeed. War is coming. He is going to need allies if he stands any chance against his enemy. The one they call Ice Queen might be the key. Experienced, intelligent, well-connected. Intoxicating. If he can just find a way to thaw her solid heart, she may prove to be his greatest ally yet.

This is the sixth and final book in The Companion series. If you enjoy a medieval tale with a strong heroine and plenty of action, then you will love The Rebel’s Queen.

Trigger warning: This book contains violence and dark themes.

Beautifully Narrated

The narrator Elizabeth Klett did an amazing job in bringing the main protagonist Cora to life.

Cora's almost bored, and hugely sarcastic tone of voice beadthed life into the charectores and better helped the listener understand the beautiful queen. Even her transformation was smooth and seamless and felt totally natural.

The narator's voice modulation even for the male characters was a good attempt but perhaps if a male voice was used during the dialogues, then the couple's banter and their relTionship would have been more enanced, not that I am saying that wasn't the case.

The impact of a male voice just for the dialogues would have helped created a better listening experience.

As a first time listener of a fictional story on audiobook I was extremely impressed and happy to have read this one. This was probably the best book of the series in my opinion.

Cora and Brom are such a powerful couple. Both are very strong in their beliefs and very determined to always do the right thing though Cora would rather not have that be public knowledge.

They are also willing to fight and lay down their lives for the one they love. Their passion and determination to make Zoelin a more better place for the people of Zoelin is admirable and makes them the King and Queen they truely are.
