The Trouble with Runaway Brides

I was so excited for Lance Whitmore and Kenzie Gavino’s story and I wasn’t disappointed because this book was everything I expected and so much more. If you love second chance romances set in small towns look no further than this entertaining and at times emotional read. Kenzie never thought she would be back in Lake Starlight but fate works in mysterious ways and she is back in town planning her wedding to Will who happens to be Lance’s nemesis and another twist of fate, it’s her childhood sweetheart Lance who has become her wedding planner……. What follows is an entertaining journey as Lance and Kenzie realise they still have feelings for each other. So can Kenzie get past the heartbreak she felt when Lance walked away and will Lance finally open up and let her know how he is feeling, you are going to need to one click to find that out. What I will tell you is this wouldn’t be a Piper Rayne Book without the towns gossip app picking up on a story and adding there option which only adds to the entertainment and enjoyment of this must read/listen. The narration team of Aiden Snow and Emily Woo Zeller did a fantastic job bringing the characters and their story to life. They hit every emotion and the banter flowed so naturally which meant they were perfect as Lance and Kenzie. Another great addition to this wonderful series.

After the ending of the previous book, I knew that Lance Whitmore and Kenzie Gavino’s story was going to be complicated and entertaining; I was right, it was both. Moving from past to present with ease, we get another Piper Rayne story that will tug at your heart, have you laughing, swooning, and shaking my head.
Back in Lake Starlight to plan her wedding to Will, Kenzie struggles with the resentment from the community. After all, to them she broke Lance’s heart years ago and they have never forgiven her. I difficulty connecting to Kenzie at first but she grew on me, whilst I fell hard and fast for Lance. I really struggled with Will, such an obnoxious man who I was happy to see disappear.
The Trouble With Runaway Brides was a well written second chance at love story. The characters easy to relate to and their story quickly had me invested. The connection that Lance and Kenzie once had is still there, as is the attraction that despite themselves sizzles between them.
I wanted to smack them both across the back of the head and shake some sense into them at times. If only they would listen to one another, their journey may not have been as rocky. Both need to confront the past, come to terms with it and move on.
The addition of the letters from Grandma Dori adds such a heartwarming touch and makes me smile every time her name is mentioned. She was and always will be one of my most favourite characters ever.
The duet (my favourite type) narration by Aiden Snow and Emily Woo Zeller was spot on. For me they were perfect for Lance and Kenzie. They brought all the emotions, humour and romance to their performances.
Cannot wait to see what else they have in store for this series.
