Garner looks at the world with a shrewd and sympathetic eye. Her non-fiction, with its many voices, is always passionate and compelling. True Stories is an extraordinary audiobook, spanning 25 years of work, by one of Australia’s great writers.

I so hope to see more non-fiction of Helen’s personal life

I listened to Helen herself read this book (on audio). I intensely enjoyed it, trying to squeeze in fragments of chapters here and there around my everyday. I desperately hope Helen continues to write non-fiction. Her stories about her own life are just fascinating.
