Maximus Enjoyment Factor
Lindsey Davis' Falco is wonderfully played by Anton Lesser in this BBC Dramatisation. The quality of production and the faithfulness of the adaptation are simply wonderful. Falco's misadventures, his romance with Helena Justina and his goal of attaining a higher rank are beautifully depicted, well paced and do not detract from the central mystery. If you've never read Lindsey Davis before, think Phillip Marlowe meets 'Gladiator' and you're in the right neighbourhood. A terrifically enjoyable romp.
