No training in economics is needed to read Why England Lose. But the listener will come away from it with a better understanding not just of football, but of how economists think and why they know.

Extremely Interesting and a Must for Fans
In looking for something to fill the void left by the completion of the World Cup, I found this book to be extremely satsifying. It is a very insightful and meticulously researched tome with great analysis that highlights the brilliance of the world game while also holding a microscope over its savage flaws. The only problem: the reading of long lists of statistics in two places particularly would have been fine to peruse on the page, but was tedious in audio. A small flaw in a great read.
