Winner of the 2013 Nebula Award for Best Novel

The year is 2312. Scientific advances have opened gateways to an extraordinary future. Earth is no longer our only home; new habitats have been created throughout the solar system, on moons, planets and in between. But in 2312, a sequence of events will force humanity to confront our past, present and future.

The first event takes place on Mercury, in the city of Terminator, itself a miracle of engineering on an unprecedented scale. For Swan Er Hong, it will change her life. Once a designer of worlds, now Swan will be led into a plot to destroy them.

2312 is a bold vision of humanity's future and a compelling portrait of those individuals who will shape its events.

Great read

A excellent, and refreshing, look at the future of humanity and the direction we're headed. A must read for fans of speculative sci-fi, and for those who love a good dose of social commentary. Such a good book I had to buy a physical copy to ensure it stayed in my library for good.

Interesting future images, awful novel !

Some interesting imagery of the world in 200 yrs but horrible novel. Patchy plot, terrible characters, bizarre pseudochapters or some sort of random
thought bubbles. Really not sure why I wasted my time in reading to the conclusion. It was obvious the author felt the same way as she just summarised all the "action " at the end. Don't waste your money. This is a lemon.

A perfect novel

Until I read this book, The Mars Trilogy was, for me, an unequalled masterpiece of possible near future sci-fi. Though much shorter than the trilogy, 2312 is every bit as satisfying.
