The Lannisters are in power on the Iron Throne.
The war in the Seven Kingdoms has burned itself out, but in its bitter aftermath new conflicts spark to life. The Martells of Dorne and the Starks of Winterfell seek vengeance for their dead. Euron Crow’s Eye, as black a pirate as ever raised a sail, returns from the smoking ruins of Valyria to claim the Iron Isles.
From the icy north, where Others threaten the Wall, apprentice Maester Samwell Tarly brings a mysterious babe in arms to the Citadel. As plots, intrigue and battle threaten to engulf Westeros, victory will go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel and the coldest hearts.

It gets the faffy bits out of the way
Don't get me wrong, the book continues to uphold the high standards set by the previous 3 books, but it does have a lot of faffing about. but it is for the better, as it gets a lot of on the side things out of the way that helps it set up for the events of Dance with Dragons. Highly recommended. don't skip it!!
Too good
This story is vast, detailed, personal and riveting. By the end of this part you are left gaping and harrowed, with no idea of what way the story or conclusion will go.
My only note is the bad spelling throughout the ebook, it is a pity really, I doubt the hard copy is so sloppy. Doesn't effect the story, so 5 stars.
Amazing!
Okay, so I know a lot of people are saying that this book is insignificant to the storyline of A Song Of Ice And Fire but in reality it's not! It is completely essential to the storyline of this spectacular series of books written by the incredible George R.R. Martin. I mean c'mon dude, who comes up with such a cool story and characters; it is all so imaginative and vivid, I just get lost in George's imagination.
Also, a few people are saying that it is also boring and tedious and extremely slow to read but hey man, I found it all to be incredibly exciting and basically a joy to read and with the 800 pages of it, the more there is the better it is because there is more of George's amazing writing to be read.
So don't skip this book because someone gave it a negative review, try it out for yourself and you will not be disappointed, I promise you that.
