Hermia is in love with Lysander, but her father demands she marry Demetrius. When the two young lovers flee into the woods, they are followed by the spurned Helena, who dotes on Demetrius, and a troupe of bumbling workmen rehearsing a play. But they are not alone. Oberon and Titania, the King and Queen of the Fairies, are locked in a bitter quarrel. To teach his queen a lesson, Oberon instructs his mischievous servant, Puck, to use a magical flower that will make her fall in love with the first creature she sees.
