Publisher Description
Byline: Laura Porter A century ago, as carriages arrived at Lake and Pleasant streets in Hudson, Apsley Mansion rose in sudden elegance from a short, steep lawn. A wide veranda wrapped the home, joining two formal entryways that reflected different architectural styles. On Lake Street, stone lions flanked a Greek Revival entrance marked by four 25-foot Corinthian columns. The traditional Pleasant Street doorway, in Colonial Revival, was no less striking, its curved porch upheld by columns.
