Nothing new to see here

The author is English, and made her name with Animals (2014) about two besties going in different directions after hitting their thirties. Here we meet a 35-year-old single woman (the outer limits of the millennial generation) who works at an online magazine and is obsessed with social media to the point where she drives away both her manipulative boyfriend, which might not be a bad thing except she can't afford the house repayments, and her bestie, which is a bad thing away because she's the adult in the room. It has been described variously 'Fleabag' meets 'Conversation with Friends' and a female version of 'Withnail and I.' Make of that what you will. The sharp, snarky comments and observations are fun for a while, but get old quickly. Mostly, it's tosh. Nothing new to see here, folks.
