The September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks - otherwise known as 9/11 - killed almost 3000 people, including 413 first responders. The attacks caused profound human suffering, physical destruction and economic loss. Now, sixteen years after 9/11, the impact on the surviving responders is ongoing. While the physical wounds may have healed, the emotional scars remain. Dr Erin Smith from the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University in Australia has documented the stories of the 9/11 responders and their families in this e-book which was released on the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
