Couldn't put it down!!!
I know the hype of the book & now movie but wow this is a must read. Cannot wait to get through book 2 ☺️
Hard to read.
Honestly. I am finding it so hard to read this book. Hardins character is emotionally abusive and ‘romanticising’ this behaviour is absolutely abhorrent.
He slowly tears away at Tessa to the point that she creates some unhealthy obsession towards her abuser.
Just ask yourself if this is the type of relationship you would want to be in, or that you would want your daughter to be in. I know this is just a book, but I worry about what impression this leaves on young women and what their idea of love is, because this is absolutely NOT it.
Very worrying
A very well written book however we need to be careful not romanticise violence. With domestic and family violence being a real issue worldwide I think this book is sending the wrong message to young girls and women who think they can change their partners. Although Harding is not portrayed as being physically abusive, definitely there is enough psychological, emotional violence and bullying to wonder why Tessa would even consider going back. I had to force myself to finish the novel as I felt that I was caught in a cycle of abuse. I guess in that sense the novel is catchy
