Publisher Description

Who is more disappointed? Us in God or God in us? Could homo sapiens be better than this? Is it really our fault? Is religion part of the problem or part the solution? What is the meaning of life? How does progress work? What happens after Armageddon? Will there be a second chance for mankind? A third? How about an 18th chance? Agony is a cross-genre novel set in the Middle Ages, but space stations surround Earth with the purpose of providing aid to humanity. A priestly caste of residents, The Takoba, serve to keep humanity on The Path, while a number of main characters are on a mission to save humanity from the destructive forces that have already lead to the end of the world on 17 previous occasions. In other words, Agony is set on Attempt 18 to help the planet survive. The same familiar forces have done the planet in on all the previous Attempts: racism, environmental destruction, nationalism and the battle for limited resources. On Attempt 18, there is one race, one language, no money, one pseudo religion and total control. Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein and Alessandro Volta are just some of the scientists whose task it is to save humanity from itself.
