Fun, heartwarming, romance.
Where to start with this review?
Firstly, I’d like to say I fell in love with this author’s writing when I started reading her Poker Flat and Last Chance cowboy series. Interesting and sometimes complex characters and fun, engaging and intriguing storylines made these books totally addictive and impossible to put down before the last page was turned. Secondly, the author’s writing style. Nothing grabs me more than a great plot where everything flows seamlessly and the dialogue is effortless and easy to follow.
Now about this book……
Ms Post’s Cowboy series all have interconnecting characters and Aloha Cowboy follows on from Dillon’s Dare (Last Chance Book 5). However, if you haven’t read Dillon’s book, you can still easily follow the Aloha Cowboy storyline without feeling like you’ve missed something crucial. I would highly recommend reading them ALL though, as they are fabulous reads!
The story around Cord and Leah’s romance is well- rounded and shows each characters vulnerabilities and the emotional hurdles they must overcome to gain trust and understanding. Cord is totally loveable; his easy-going, down to earth persona belies the hidden truth of his families overwhelming wealth; and having suffered the agonising revelation of how shallow women can be when faced with his family name, he is wary of revealing he actually is one of THOSE Penningtons.
Leah funnily enough shares the Pennington name, but is has never known the kind of life that has come so easily to Cord and his siblings. Carrying a shame that is killing her ability to endure physical contact and ultimately experience love, Leah’s futile attempts to keep Cord at a distance finally take their toll.
Reading this book was a delightful afternoon escape with engaging and believable characters and a storyline that only reinforced my love of this author’s talent. I know readers will devour this book easily and if it’s their first Lexi Post read, they will definitely be back for more. Thank you Ms Post for another wonderful HEA.
