It wasn't meant to be this way—she shouldn't have fallen for my brother and left me for him. But she did. And now I'm left to pick up the pieces of my shattered, broken heart. And to top it off, they want me to come to their wedding. Do they think I'm a pushover? Do they think of me as a joke? The old saying stands true, 'why have enemies when you can have family.' I understand it now, better than I ever have in my life. There's one unexpected surprise though, Storm. She blew in just like one and makes the pain diminish. She's exactly as her name describes her—she is a storm. A beautiful and powerful one. But not all things are meant to last. Like a storm that wreaks havoc, some things cause anguish, and in my life she may very well be one of them.

What a sweetheart
To be totally honest after being introduced to Echo in Cavalier, I wasn’t all that sure I liked him that much. I didn’t dislike him however he didn’t seem to be a character with a lot of backbone to me. Oh how wrong I was, I am not afraid to admit.
Echo Brown, after having his heart broken by his ex, meets Storm Hale, a professional young woman who unbeknownst to him has had the same happen to her. Forming a purely physical relationship can’t hurt, can it?
Echo is at times quite a complicated character yet at other times we see he’s not. You honestly can’t help but like him straight away and feel sorry for him after everything he’s been through and continues to go through with that family of his, boy what a family. See, I really misinterpreted his character in book one entirely! Storm is such a strong character, I liked her and could relate to her very easily.Echo was so right when he said she had a ‘sharp personality’.
The way this author uses words to describe scenes, especially intimate ones, is almost indescribable. 🤦🏻♀️ The sentences themselves flow so well together that they are not only emotive but also memorable. They aren’t necessarily fancy words or exceptionally long sentences but they are masterfully pieced together to create vivid images.
Although there are some deeper, more intense issues explored in the story, there is also a good dose of humour. Whether it’s sarcastic wit between the four partners or fun banter between other characters, it is a light relief that makes you smile.
Another sensational story by this author, bring on book 3!
